First day we hiked a trail by the shore, but it was foggy.
 | |
We could hear wave crashing somewhere out there but couldn't see it.
 | |
My parents got tired from the short hike.
 | |
Fog started lifting.
| I have no idea what kind of flower this is, but figure I try the Macro mode on my camera.
 | |
Fog is moving back to the sea.
 | |
| We took my parents on a all day sea kayaking tour on the west side of Mt. Desert Island. The outfitter only had tandems though.
 | |
We met a couple Casey and Laura from Ohio while paddling.
| My parents displaying their perfect paddling technique.

Lunch break on an island.
| Whole bunch harbor seals suning themselfs on this rock. We're not allowed to get too close to disturb them, but a few seemed to follow us around.
 | |
Mt. Desert Island has over 40 miles of carriage road for bikers and hikers so we rented bikes to cruise around.
| After a bit of climbing, we were rewarded with a bird's eye view of Jordan Pound.
 | |
 | |
We also rode by Bubble Pound which is very scenic and quiet.
 | |
 | |
| I didn't realize my mom have not been on a bike in over 30 years and has never biked uphill in her entire life. The day turned into an epic ride for her.
 | |
| Jade goofing off.
 | |
| The Carriage Road.
 | |
 | |
| We found a little offroad trail next to the carriage road and got my dad to try a little bit of mountain biking, not bad for a sixty year old man.
 | |
We finished the ride at Eagle Lake.
| Booked a cruise on a whale watching ship. They had to cancel on the original scheduled day due to fog. The second try was suppose to be clear weather but about 25 miles offshore we drove straight into the fog. However the biologist onboard was able to home in on the sound of whale blowing air and found a pair. Amazingly she did this with her ears, without any equipment.
 | |
 | |
 | |
It cold very cold and wet offshore, even in the summer. We were wearing fleece under the rain coat.
| Some poor biologist has to live on this island from May to August by herself to count birds.
 | |
The house we stayed on Mt. Desert Island is beautiful. Jade is working on her steak salad recipe.
 | |
Hopefully I won't char the steak and ruin Jade's salad.
| Mom and Enzo.
 | |
Yeah!!! Steak Salad! Yummy!!!
| Wild blueberries everywhere. All of us picked and ate them, including Enzo.
 | |
| More blueberry bushes.
 | |
| The backyard, a happy dog.
 | |
We fell asleep while my parent went shopping in Bar Harbor.
| The third floor bedroom that we stayed in, can see the bay and ocean from here.

Once again I play with the Marco mode on the camera.
 | |
The eastern shore, with many islands.
 | |
We heard glacier moved this rock up here, called Bubble Rock near the center of Mt. Desert Island. I told my dad don't lean too hard on it.
| Looking north from Bubble Rock, we can barely see Mt. Katadin, the northern terminus of AT.

| The view from top of Cadillac Mountain, which is the highest point on the island. We missed the sunrise here since it was foggy most every morning, and sunrise happens just before 5am.

| As flat of a wave as I can possiblly find.
 | |

 | |
| Flat wave is kinda hard to spin on.
