In most instances, cheapest is usually not the best. But we're
about to break the rule here. Want to know what's the cheapest upgrade
you can do to your system? A memory upgrade. Want to know what upgrade
will most siginificantly increase your system's performance? A memory
upgrade. That's right, memory upgrade is the cheapest upgrade you
can make to your system, and in most cases, it's also the one upgrade
that will have the most impact to your system's performance. A memory
upgrade can make your system load applications faster, load files
faster, switching windows faster, and in general make your system
operate faster.
Geek speak: system memory is about 1,000 times faster than hard
drive. Operating system normally lives in memory. But what happens
when the operating system needs more memory than available? The
operating system will use a chunk of hard drive and pretending it
to be memory. This works fine and dandy but remember hard drive
is about 1,000 times slower than memory, therefore operating system's
performance will be reduced drastically when it's using hard drive
as system memory. But upgrading a system's memory, you reduce the
chance of operating system running out of real memory and using
the much slower hard drive as memory.
J&J Computer Service use Crucial
memory exclusively. Crucial memory is considered by many the highest
quality memory in the market. We also recommend using Belarc
Advisor to determine how much memory your system has and how
much more it can handle.
